2008 election guide
Columbia Missourian (08.30.2008)
This weekend cover story was the product of a capstone project I completed with two classmates. They wrote the stories and gathered the information while I designed the package, wrote the display type and chose how to present the material.
We chose the topic — the 2008 presidential election — because we wanted to fill in the gaps left by national media outlets and cover it in a way that would matter to Columbia, Missouri.
Our group also focused on Missouri’s reputation as a swing state. In presidential elections since 1900, the Show Me State’s vote has often been uncertain and often mirrors the outcome of the national election.
My own design goals centered on conveying a great deal of information in accessible story forms. So I included timelines, charts, bullet points and graphics (including one by a fellow Missourian graphic designer).
